Yahoo Search Marketing and its Challenges

Yahoo Search Marketing and its pay-per-click model certainly have their challenges in overcoming Google Adwords. The recent upgrade (Panama) was much needed, but I am not so sure it packs the punch to rival their nemesis.

Yahoo Search Marketing is certainly improving and they are trying to understand the landscape, but I still think as of today, right now, Google Adwords is a far superior system. They simply have a better product than YSM.

The costs are rising and it is important for both these companies to be competitive. I would love to see Yahoo Search Marketing rival Google in a head-to-head battle for the ultimate ppc champion. The ones that would benefit would be all the users because these ppc gurus would have to find a way to deliver more to gain the edge.

Only time will tell where the future lies for Yahoo Search Marketing.

Minimum bids within Yahoo Search Marketing are no longer fixed at 0.10. Yesterday, I had a bid go from $1.00 to over $6.00. New minimum bids will start being applied to all keywords.

This is another reason to keep your adgroups tight and performing. Focus on Quality and a few keywords that get high CTR. Any keywords that are dragging you down, lose them and put them into another adgroup.

This is getting interesting now with Yahoo Search Marketing....

Yahoo Search Marketing Update

Yahoo Sponsored Search Marketing announced today it will be updating their system within a few weeks. Minimum Bids will no longer be fixed at $.10 which means publishers will be paying more based on the value and quality of your keywords.

The minimum bid on a keyword in Yahoo Sponsored Search will vary depending on multiple factors including the number of bidders and bid amounts in a specific market. I personally don't think this is advantageous for the users. Just another way to squeeze more dough out of everyone using the Yahoo Sponsored Search.

We will have to wait and see and review the update as it happens. My fingers are crossed!
