Susan Decker is Yahoo's new President
Can Susan Decker Improve Yahoo?
Susan Decker is Yahoo's new president and has the daunting task of improving the company out from under the shadow of Google, the internet giant. Susan's ascent from financial analyst to head of research at a major Wall Street brokerage firm to Chief financial officer, and now president of Yahoo, Decker's intelligence has received praise from other well-known business leaders.
Decker's abilities will be tested as never before. Along with the Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang, 38, who stepped in as chief executive officer in a management shakeup, Decker, 44, faces the great task of launching Yahoo from under the shadows of Google.
The challenge will be to deliver better results for Yahoo's investors, rebuilding employee morale, and increase Yahoo's bottom line.
The company's shares are trading at around $27. Yahoo's recent high has been $43 in January 2006. Last year, Yahoo earned 751 million in profits on 6.4 billion in sales.
Yahoo remains one of the most successful companies on the internet. It attracts 500 million visitors every month and has a multitude of products and content such as Yahoo Web Hosting, Yahoo Small Business packages, and Yahoo Personals, to name a few.
Over the past 2 years, even with its success, Yahoo has been overshadowed by the incredible rise of Google. Google's market value is four times that of Yahoo. Yahoo is aiming to close that gap. Yahoo has over 12,000 employees. In the new restructure, Yang is expected to provide the technological vision while Decker will handle the day-to-day operations.
The challenge for Susan Decker and Yahoo will be a tough one for sure!
