Microsoft Makes a Bid for Yahoo
Today, Microsoft makes a 44.6 billion dollar bid for Yahoo, the internet giant. Microsoft is making an effort to battle Google in the competitve advertising space world.
Yahoo said it will "carefully and promptly" study Microsoft's bid. Yahoo's stock slipped to a four-year low earlier this week.
Microsoft views Yahoo as its best chance to overtake Google, but I believe the issue is in dominating the technology of ad-serving, and combining the 2nd and 3rd leaders isn't necessarily going to give them a technological edge.
Also, the fate of Yahoo's brand will be uncertain if Microsoft takes over.
